It's hard to believe Jackdaw ($JDAW) has been running on the Ravencoin ($RVN) blockchain for over a year now! That's right, on October 16th we celebrated our one year anniversary on the Ravencoin blockchain. As a small, grassroots crypto community with zero funding mechanisms we have accomplished a lot in our first year. With the announcement of the new $RVN/$JDAW market pair and liquidity pools coming to the <a data-mce-href="https://neoxa.app/" href="https://neoxa.app/" title="Neoxa Asset Portal - Jackdaw Trading" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Neoxa Asset Portal</a> we figured there's no better time than now to recap Jackdaw's first year on the Ravencoin blockchain and have a look toward the future. Let's dive in for a recap of the Jackdaw project, Year One!<ul><li>Distribution Phase Ends</li></ul>Jackdaw successfully completed its distribution phase by the end of 2023. Jackdaw was distributed by community promotions, faucets, and airdrops. The <a data-mce-href="https://niftyraven.com/" href="https://niftyraven.com/" title="NiftyRaven Ravencoin community" target="_blank" rel="noopener">NiftyRaven</a> community was essential in providing the tools necessary to conduct the <a data-mce-href="https://jackdawtoken.com/learn-more/jackdaw-distribution" href="https://jackdawtoken.com/learn-more/jackdaw-distribution" title="Jackdaw Cryptocurrency Airdrops" target="_blank" rel="noopener">airdrops</a> (which were truly verifiable p2p transactions), and the <a data-mce-href="https://rocketraven.net/" href="https://rocketraven.net/" title="RocketRaven.net" target="_blank" rel="noopener">RocketRaven.net</a> community supplied the first Jackdaw faucet. Communities such as <a data-mce-href="https://www.hmgameco.com/" href="https://www.hmgameco.com/" title="Humble Minwr Game Co Ravencoin" target="_blank" rel="noopener">TheHumbleMiner</a>, <a data-mce-href="https://x.com/RavencoinAssets?t=CJBV7LRVaLYArnzqOtk1og&amp;s=09" href="https://x.com/RavencoinAssets?t=CJBV7LRVaLYArnzqOtk1og&amp;s=09" title="@RavencoinAssets Twitter" target="_blank" rel="noopener">RavencoinAssets</a>, and <a data-mce-href="https://meco.eeconme.com/" href="https://meco.eeconme.com/" title="MeCo Ravencoin" target="_blank" rel="noopener">MeCo</a> all held promotions where users could get awarded Jackdaw, completely free. Hundreds of users participated in community promotions &amp; thousands were targeted for airdrops. Once <a data-mce-href="https://jackdawtoken.com/learn-more/jackdaw-distribution" href="https://jackdawtoken.com/learn-more/jackdaw-distribution" title="Jackdaw Distribution Phase" target="_blank" rel="noopener">distribution ended</a> and the <a data-mce-href="https://jackdawtoken.com/learn-more/jackdaw-burn" href="https://jackdawtoken.com/learn-more/jackdaw-burn" title="Jackdaw Ravencoin Ownership Asset Burn Ceremony" target="_blank" rel="noopener">ownership asset was burned</a>, it was time to get to work on the next phase, raising awareness about Jackdaw!<ul><li>Awareness campaigns 2024</li></ul>We worked hard over the first year of Jackdaw's life on the Ravencoin blockchain to raise awareness for the Jackdaw token within the Raven community. We wanted those who held Jackdaw to know they own it, and to know what Jackdaw is all about! We set out with several initiatives online to help bring Jackdaw to the world. Within the first three months after distribution we had already hit our goals for getting Jackdaw out in the world as a stand-alone cryptocurrency, this included:<ol><li>Creating <a data-mce-href="https://jackdawtoken.com/" href="https://jackdawtoken.com/" title="Jackdaw Cryptocurrency Website" target="_blank" rel="noopener">JackdawToken.com</a></li><li>Creating Jackdaw Social channels.</li><li>Decentralizing ownership of social media.</li><li>Creating Jackdaw media.</li><li>Populating and updating Jackdaw media channels with new, ongoing, relevant information, fostering community engagement.</li><li>Distribution of JACKDAWTOKEN.COM promo tokens on blockchain.</li><li>&nbsp;Publishing of Whitepaper on website and distributing via promo token/IPFS.</li><li>Creation of the JackBlog for regular project updates.</li><li>Applying to several cryptocurrency exchanges for Jackdaw listing.</li></ol>So far we've been able to accomplish all this and more, with the singular goal of raising awareness in the Ravencoin community about Jackdaw, and letting potential holders know to check their old wallets! Speaking of holders, that brings us to our next point, trading!<ul><li>Exchange listing: A journey</li></ul>Jackdaw started off with some great community tools for trading and some volunteers for the project have made demo videos showcasing a lot of the Ravencoin ecosystem (with more to come), including early trading options, on the <a data-mce-href="https://x.com/JackdawCrypto?t=fqZgjj3iUbD2pw9YKJtLcA&amp;s=09" href="https://x.com/JackdawCrypto?t=fqZgjj3iUbD2pw9YKJtLcA&amp;s=09" title="Jackdaw X (Twitter) Account" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Jackdaw X account</a>. When it came to early trading and price discovery, users could trade trustlessly peer-to-peer using <a data-mce-href="https://github.com/Electrum-RVN-SIG/electrum-ravencoin/releases" href="https://github.com/Electrum-RVN-SIG/electrum-ravencoin/releases" title="Electrum Ravencoin Wallet" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Electrum Ravencoin</a> and the <a data-mce-href="https://jackdawtoken.com/explore/swap" href="https://jackdawtoken.com/explore/swap" title="Jackdaw Cryptocurrency Swap Board" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Jackdaw Swap Boards</a>, or those who were more accustomed to NFT style trading could use <a data-mce-href="https://rocketraven.net/" href="https://rocketraven.net/" title="RocketRaven.net" target="_blank" rel="noopener">RocketRaven.net</a>, additionally, users also had a chat-based solution in the <a data-mce-href="https://discord.com/invite/8Kfg2BdW2w" href="https://discord.com/invite/8Kfg2BdW2w" title="Jackdaw Exchange Channel Discord" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Jackdaw Exchange channel</a> in the Jackdaw Discord (using the <a data-mce-href="https://niftyraven.com/nifty-minter%E2%84%A2" href="https://niftyraven.com/nifty-minter%E2%84%A2" title="Niftyminter Discord app" target="_blank" rel="noopener">NiftyMinter</a> app). While these tools are great, Jackdaw as a community was hungry for more solutions when it came to Jackdaw trading... Perhaps the most difficult thing for Jackdaw to achieve as a truly community-lead &amp; decentralized token has been getting an exchange listing. Unlike most projects of its kind, Jackdaw elected to have no founders reward, no ICO, and no fund set aside for exchange listings or other initiatives. This can be challenging when applying to exchanges, who often ask for exorbitant listing fees and liquidity standards. On this note we want to give a huge shout-out to the <a data-mce-href="https://neoxa.app/" href="https://neoxa.app/" title="Neoxa Asset Portal - Jackdaw Trading" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Neoxa Asset Portal</a>, who saw the value in listing Jackdaw and did so without asking for any fee or liquidity up front from the community. Jackdaw is completely community owned and governed, and nowhere does that shine brightest than in the growing Jackdaw market.&nbsp; All token liquidity for Jackdaw comes from the community, and thats very rare to see in the crypto space these days - a true, organically grown, grassroots crypto community effort.&nbsp; For Jackdaw to get an exchange listing in the first year of its life is amazing and not something many Ravencoin Assets have accomplished. That said we couldnt be happier to have our first market be with the <a data-mce-href="https://neoxa.app/" href="https://neoxa.app/" title="Neoxa Asset Portal" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Neoxa Asset Portal</a> platform. The <a data-mce-href="https://neoxa.app/" href="https://neoxa.app/" title="Neoxa Asset Portal - Jackdaw &amp; Ravencoin Trading" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Neoxa Asset Portal</a> (NAP for short) allows users to instantly trade Jackdaw, or add their Jackdaw to a liquidity pool and help strengthen the market! Users often ask how they can help strengthen the Jackdaw community, and right now these liquidity pools offer a great avenue to support the token!&nbsp; As we stated previously there is no central authority or official funding mechanism supporting the Jackdaw project, so its amazing to see the market being built ENTIRELY by volunteer holders. Thank you to all those who have been building the market so far, its a huge help to the Jackdaw project! As of this writing over 5 Jackdaw have reached the NAP exchange liquidity pool, this is roughly 10% of the total Jackdaw supply! Due to how $JDAW was distributed, it was largely unknown how much would make it back into general circulation or if those who held it would be interested in trading. Now we know! We hope to set out to prove that further in the coming years as we raise awareness for Jackdaw in a wider audience.&nbsp;&nbsp; We've been largely focused on raising awareness and highlighting tools for Jackdaw holders in the Ravencoin community for Jackdaw's Year One. Now that we have our first exchange listing (with two markets soon!), a suite of tools &amp; wallets (with more on the way!), and a solid grassroots community backbone (the best cypherpunks in the Raven Assets space!), its time to share Jackdaw with the world! Jackdaw: Year One

We briefly mentioned Jackdaw memos in our <a data-mce-href="https://jackdawtoken.com/blog/jackdaw--anatomy-of-a-ravencoin-main-asset" href="https://jackdawtoken.com/blog/jackdaw--anatomy-of-a-ravencoin-main-asset" title="Jackdaw: Anatomy of a Ravencoin Main Asset" target="_blank" rel="noopener">first article</a> but wanted to take a moment to expand on exactly what Jackdaw memos are. One of the most interesting features of Jackdaw, and Ravencoin Assets in general, is the ability to permananetly and immutably store information by simply transacting.Any Jackdaw transaction can have a "memo" added to it. That memo can be in the form of a transaction ID or an IPFS hash. Whichever you choose, the information is stored to the Ravencoin blockchain forever, making Jackdaw memos a great way to add additional permanent information or other metadata to a transaction.[1] In theory, a user could store an enormous amount of metadata by sending themselves Jackdaw tokens (creating a transaction) containing IPFS hashes where said data is stored. The Ravencoin blockchain will store that IPFS hash (or transaction ID) permananetly, allowing for users to access the data they've stored in Jackdaw memos on the blockchain, forever. Memos are a great way to store virtually any metadata permanently, as both Ravencoin and IPFS are decentralized immutable solutions. Once a file is pinned to IPFS, no one can alter the hash (content ID) or the data it contains.[2] You can use Jackdaw memos to store additional data about a transaction (including a transaction ID itself) or any other range of solutions that fit your needs. Perhaps simple file storage or record keeping, perhaps something more complex like game or website. In theory, memos could also be used for transaction verification should such a system come into existence. Users can add messages, websites, or any other data they desire to a Jackdaw memo and create an immutable record reflecting anything they wish. Jackdaw Memos: Metadata Set in Stone

Introduction:This article assumes you've read the <a data-mce-href="https://jackdawtoken.com/whitepaper" href="https://jackdawtoken.com/whitepaper" title="Jackdaw ($JDAW) Whitepaper" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Jackdaw Whitepaper</a> and understand Jackdaw's basic tokenomics and goals. Its often noted in the Jackdaw community that Jackdaw ($JDAW) has far fewer technical and social attack vectors than its token counter-parts on other blockchains. Selecting Ravencoin as Jackdaw's parent blockchain wasn't by accident, it came after years of observation and testing with Ravencoin and other blockchains. Jackdaw isn't your standard cryptocurrency token, its a Ravencoin Asset! Ravencoin was purpose-built for Asset issuance and transfer, and a lot of thought and care went into this element of Ravencoin's design and the security required to maintain it. Jackdaw was issued in a way where it can showcase some of the advantages of Ravencoin Assets while maintaining a decentralized, minimalistic, cypherpunk ethos. This paper is intended to highlight some of the many advantages both Jackdaw and Ravencoin hold over other blockchain standards.Exploring Assets:First we should explore some of Ravencoins design and history to understand the technology backing the Jackdaw token. The advantages of PoW for security and immutability have been well discussed[<a data-mce-href="https://bitcoinmagazine.com/technical/proof-of-work-superior-for-bitcoin" href="https://bitcoinmagazine.com/technical/proof-of-work-superior-for-bitcoin" title="Bitcoin Magazine Proof of Work" target="_blank" rel="noopener">3</a>], so we'll skip that here in favor of discussing the core of this paper, the Ravencoin Asset. Before we go any further, its highly recommended that you familiarize yourself with the "All About Assets" article on Ravencoin.org. This will help give you a basic unserstanding of Ravencoin Assets.[<a data-mce-href="https://ravencoin.org/assets/" href="https://ravencoin.org/assets/" title="Ravencoin All About Assets" target="_blank" rel="noopener">4</a>] Keep in mind, Jackdaw is a Ravencoin "Main Asset" token.Now that you have a basic understanding of a "Ravencoin Asset" (interchangably called a "Ravencoin Token") and the different types that can be created, lets look at some of the clear advantages the Jackdaw token has.&nbsp; Human Readable Unique Token Name:&nbsp;Not a complex smart contract or address, Ravencoin Assets are like domain names for value. The Jackdaw token is simply called "JACKDAW" on the Ravencoin blockchain, no confusion possible, as each Ravencoin Asset name is unique. There will never be another token named "JACKDAW" on the Ravencoin blockchain, no need to check confusing contracts or addresses.
